A few weeks ago, Melany from Trendy By Melany challenged me to style a Uniqlo oversized sweater for spring.

Sweater: Uniqlo ($9.90) // Scarf: Uniqlo ($15)// Shoes: Dillard’s // Pants: American Eagle // Lip color: Revlon “Crush” // Sunglasses: F21, similar here for $15 // Monogram necklace: Etsy

I’ve showcased a lot of sweaters on this blog, but I don’t recall showing one with a slouchy, hi-low hem and tight cuffed sleeves. I loved seeing how Melany wore her gray sweater as well!

To make this into a casual Valentine’s outfit that you can wear out to brunch, I’d drape a colorful cashmere scarf to ward off the February chills and pop on some stunning velvet pumps (Alert: all cashmere scarves on Uniqlo are $15 and their cashmere sweaters are $50!)

The classic cat-eye sunglasses and berry lip will certainly get you thumbs up from your girlfriends without looking way too dressed up. And although I showcase a lot of date night looks, sometimes our true Valentines are our group of close friends.

Thanks, Global Warming

I remember freezing my nose off while I took these photos outside, hoping it would never snow again…and thanks to global warming, it hasn’t. Did I curse all of Boston?

Earrings: Dillard’s $28 dupe for these $300 Rebecca de Ravenel earrings // Coat: F21 (last year), this year’s version here // Sleeveless turtleneck: Vince // White jeans: (I’ve had these for 4 years but they finally fell prey to a dark smoothie stain) American Eagle // Boots: Ugg Amie

If you’re looking for warm weather inspo though, I’m still posting more pictures from Belize and Central America on my Instagram! I also use Instagram stories a lot to show what I’m wearing every day.

Also, happy Lunar New Year to you! My friends and I celebrated here in Boston by going to an escape room (where you have to try to solve the puzzle of how to get out in an hour) and eating glorious hot pot at Q restaurant afterwards. We managed to escape the room with 27 seconds to spare, which was cutting it close! We could have never lived it down if we couldn’t get out…there were a lot of Harvard minds in that room 😉 Q’s hot pot is actually fairly priced and so delicious; pay in cash to get a 10% discount :)

祝大家新春快乐!我和我的朋友们在Q restaurant吃火锅庆祝新年。如果你想查看更多我的渡假照片,可以去看看我的Instagram  。我也喜欢用Instagram秀大家我的日常着装。谢谢!

Law school starts again in two weeks and I’ve already started packing (I’m typing this while sitting amidst a knee-high pile of clothes). After an exciting summer in NYC and a relaxing sabbatical at home, I’m not exactly looking forward to burying my nose in a legal tome again.

To lift my spirit, I turned to my girl crush and life coach Elle Woods. What would she do when school got her down? The answer is the same as it ever was: wear a lot of pink. Then, take a deep breath, slip into some heels, and march confidently into the new school year. Thanks, Elle!

Minimal in the Heat

As much as I love wearing pretty dresses and doing my makeup for blog posts, I have to be real and admit that I have to dress pretty minimally in the Texas heat. Yesterday’s temperature was a toasty 103° Fahrenheit, so any makeup other than a cat eye was out of the question. To compensate, I drew the cat eye extra wide and topped it off with a pair of oversized cat eye sunglasses.

(I was actually afraid that my camera would melt while I took these pictures: I had to duck into the shade to let the lens cool off. Yikes!).

Taking pictures in the heat also means that the “dewiness” you see in these photos is basically all sweat (barely contained). I also wanted to give a shout out to this peach-pink matte lipstick that valiantly struggled to keep its grip on my lips in the heat. And an honorable mention to these well-ventilated high-waisted shorts, which give me waist definition while letting my legs breathe. Now, hand me a bottle of water–I’m already parched looking at these pictures!

Wearing Shower Curtains

I was in love with off-the-shoulder dresses and tops until a friend ruined the trend for me. He told me, “They look like hospital gowns or shower curtains hanging off your chest.” From that moment, I couldn’t look at off-the-shoulder dresses the same way. It didn’t help that everyone seems to gravitate towards off-the-shoulder dresses that are the exact color and shape of hospital gowns!

I wanted to flaunt my shoulders without losing the shape of my body under layers of fabric, so I finally settled on this white eyelet version. Not only does it boast a slim bodice, but the ruffles are at the bottom, not the top, to balance out the silhouette. The sleeves also flare out in a bell shape, making your arms look slimmer in comparison. I think this tapered version of the off-the-shoulder dress shows off your body better, ironically, than a billowing mass.
